Cookie Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026

1. What Are Cookies and Browser Storage?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage, which allow websites to store data locally in your browser. Privacy regulations — including the EU ePrivacy Directive, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, and PIPEDA — treat all of these technologies identically. This policy covers all browser storage technologies used by the TrueRank platform.

2. How We Use Browser Storage

The TrueRank platform uses browser storage for strictly necessary, functional purposes only. We do not use any third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies. Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)), the GDPR, and equivalent laws worldwide, storage that is strictly necessary for a service you explicitly requested is exempt from the requirement to obtain prior consent. All of our browser storage falls within this exemption, as described below.

Authentication (HTTP-only cookie) — When you sign in, a secure, HTTP-only session cookie is set to authenticate your requests. This cookie is essential for maintaining your logged-in state and cannot be disabled without losing access to the platform. It expires when you sign out or after a period of inactivity.
Session state (sessionStorage) — We use session-scoped storage to maintain UI state during your visit, such as selected project context, navigation state, and form progress. This data is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab.
User preferences (localStorage) — We store a small number of preferences locally, such as your last-selected project and UI display settings. These persist between visits to improve your experience.
Security tokens — We use short-lived tokens stored in memory or HTTP-only cookies to protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. These are essential for the security of the platform.

3. Third-Party Cookies

We do not set any third-party cookies. We do not use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics), advertising networks, or social media trackers on theTrueRankplatform. When you make a payment, Stripe may set its own strictly necessary cookies on its hosted payment page — these are governed by Stripe's cookie policy and are not set by us.

4. Managing Browser Storage

You can clear cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage at any time through your browser settings (typically under "Clear browsing data" or "Site settings"). Please note that clearing authentication cookies will sign you out, and clearing localStorage will reset your saved preferences.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this cookie policy to reflect changes in our technology or legal requirements. The effective date at the top indicates when the latest version took effect.
